Bolt To Put Away Spikes After Rio

Usain Bolt is stating that this will be his last Olympics. The Jamaican sprinter who has dominated Track and Field like no other since the 2008 BeijingOlympics seems to be definite this time. In the past he has said he would retire after the 2012 London Olympics.

“It’s going to be hard to go four more years for me, to keep the motivation that I want, especially if I accomplish what I want in Rio,” Bolt was quoted as saying, by Agence France-Presse.

Bolt scored three gold medals, the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. He is the only man ever to have achieved the feat of scoring three gold medals at consecutive Olympic Games. While he has been challenged and made to work hard in the 100 metres, most recently by Gatlin at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in London, he is peerless in the 200m and is likely to dominate the event for years to come if he chooses to continue running.

Speaking of the Olympic Games this August in Rio, Bolt is reported to have told the German news agency SID, “It’ll definitely be my last Olympics.”

Bolt has said that his immediate plans are to break his 200m record and win three gold medals in Rio, before he retires.

“That’s my focus, that’s what I want,” he told SID. “And that’s what I am aiming for because that’s my goal and that’s my dream.”
